NFL issues punishment to Giants for walkie talkie use

By Jesse Reed

Ben McAdoo, head coach of the New York Giants, illegally used a walkie talkie during his team’s 10-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14. Now the NFL has come down on the team and McAdoo for his infraction.

Compared to the penalties incurred by the New England Patriots over allegations they tampered with air pressure on footballs, this is a veritable slap on the wrist. We have definitive proof the Giants broke the rules, while New England was only ever accused of their alleged crime.

Yet Tom Brady was banned four games, the Patriots lost a first-round and fourth-round pick and were fined $1 million.

The juxtaposition between these two penalties is pretty stark.

Nevertheless, the Giants will shell out their dough, do their due diligence scouting for their fourth-round pick, which will essentially be like the first pick of the fifth round, and move along.
