NFL fines Raiders $20,000 over injury report

The Oakland Raiders are not having what we’d call the best season in franchise history. At 1-5 through Week 6, this team has been a complete and utter dumpster fire on the field.

That’s now apparently extended to off the field. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport the league has fined the Raiders $20,000 for failing to report guardĀ Kelechi Osemele as being out for the team’s Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The fine is not going to hurt owner Mark Davis and Co. too much in the pocketbooks. But that’s not really the point here. It’s a basic aspect of running an organization. Understanding NFL injury report rules and following said guidelines. Obviously, someone dropped the ball in a big way here.

It’s yet another embarrassing moment in a season that’s been full of them under first-year head coach Jon Gruden.
