The New York Yankees placed reliever Zack Britton on the injured list with a left hamstring strain, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said before Saturday’s game against the Boston Red Sox.

This will be Britton’s second stint on the IL this season. He began the season on the injured list and was activated June 12.

The southpaw has made five appearances this season with a 4.15 ERA. Since arriving in New York in the middle of the 2018 season, Britton is 5-3 in 116 appearances with a 2.22 ERA and 1.131 WHIP.

Left-handed pitcher Wandy Peralta is also going on the IL with a back injury, Boone said. Peralta is 1-1 with a 5.28 ERA in 20 appearances this season with the Yankees since arriving from San Francisco in late April.

To replace the two relievers, the Yankees are calling up Albert Abreu and Brooks Kriske from Triple-A. Both have been called up and sent down multiple times this season.
