The New York Mets put third baseman J.D. Davis on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left hand sprain.
The Mets recalled Trevor Hildenberger from the team’s alternate training site. Davis’ stint on the IL is retroactive to Sunday.
Davis — along with outfielder Brandon Nimmo — left Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Nimmo (finger contusion) will be out of the lineup again Monday night when the Mets visit the St. Louis Cardinals.

“Nimmo is better. Improving, but slowly. Not able to start. … His availability out of the bench, we shall see,” Mets manager Luis Rojas said Monday.
Davis is hitting .390/.479/.610 with two home runs and three doubles in 14 games this season. He’s driven in seven runs but has committed three errors.
