New York Mets right-hander Carlos Carrasco is recovering from surgery to remove a bone fragment from his right elbow.

Team medical director Dr. David Altchek performed the procedure Tuesday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

According to a statement Wednesday from the team, Carrasco is expected to resume baseball activities later this winter.

Carrasco, 34, went 1-5 with a 6.04 ERA in 12 starts in his first season with the Mets in 2021. He missed New York’s first 102 games after tearing his right hamstring in spring training.

He played his first 11 seasons (2009-11, 2013-20) with Cleveland, compiling an 88-73 record with a 3.77 ERA in 242 games (195 starts).
