New York Jets Release Mark Sanchez: 3 Reasons He Will Be Missed

The New York Jets have released Mark Sanchez, via CBS Sports. It’s been a long time coming for both sides, as the marriage between quarterback and franchise hasn’t necessarily been too proactive over the past couple season. There was a time, however, when Sanchez was viewed as the Jets franchise quarterback. And it wasn’t too long ago.

Here are three reasons why the Jets and their fans are going to miss Mr. Sanchez.

Some people seem to have a short memory. It was just a few seasons ago that Sanchez was taking on Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game for a chance to go to the Super Bowl. That represented the Jets second consecutive venture into the ultimate conference matchup.

While Sanchez himself didn’t put up sexy stats (29 touchdowns, 33 interceptions), he did perform well during the postseason in those two campaigns. All said, Sanchez has a 4-2 career playoff record with nine touchdowns, three interceptions and a 94.3 quarterback rating.

At the very least, those close to the Jets organization should be happy that Sanchez helped lead two of the most successful seasons in franchise history since Broadway Joe actually looked sexy in a fur coat.

Sorry, I had to go here. In what has to be considered one of the most outright hilarious moments of the past few seasons, the NFL world was treated to a thing beauty on Thanksgiving evening two years ago. I am not really going to add much more to this blurb outside of this…

Benny Hill will never fail you.

3. Mark Sanchez, the Guy

To say that Sanchez is a character would be an understatement. He’s not an enigmatic or questionable individual off the field. Instead, the former USC quarterback is quirky in his own way.

Come on now, I am sure that all the men reading this article are pretty jealous of the life that Sanchez has been living since he entered the NFL. Who wouldn’t be? Dancing around with sexy ladies without pants on. How are you spending your Friday night?

Oh, and he also once spoke with A.C. Slater.

For you gals out there that are feeling left out, you’re welcome.
