New York Giants offensive lineman Shane Lemieux is expected to miss the rest of the season recovering from surgery on his left knee.

Lemieux had surgery Wednesday. The 24-year-old tried to play through the injury but struggled in the opener and landed on Injured Reserve prior to last week’s game at Washington.

He was originally injured in training camp in July.

The Giants also lost center Nick Gates to a broken leg in Week 2. Gates was filling in for Lemieux at left guard.

Ben Bredeson is likely to man the left guard spot in Week 3 against the visiting Atlanta Falcons. Billy Price, who played center in Gates’ place in Week 2, is expected to start again this week.

Lemieux, a fifth-round pick by the Giants in 2020, emerged as a starter as a rookie last season.
