On Tuesday at the NFL’s annual Spring Meeting, the owners voted and approved an array of new rules, some of which affect how kickoffs will be handled in 2018.
Thankfully, the league released a handy little video that explains them all.

The hope is that all these rule changes will cut down on head injuries, and injuries in general, going forward. Whether this makes any difference whatsoever remains to be seen. And some might argue that, for all intents and purposes, the league should just abolish kickoffs like it has hinted at already.
We’ll certainly be keeping an eye on kickoffs this year to see if these new rules are worthy of keeping around.
