Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker (R) has announced that his state is safely reopening amid the ongoing pandemic.

In doing so, Baker also announced that travelers to Massachusetts from a vast majority of other states have been instructed to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Massachusetts quarantine rule could have major impact on NFL, MLB seasons

As has been noted since this announcement became public record, a vast majority of New England Patriots players do not live in Massachusetts.

This could be a major issue with training camps set to get going within a month. It means Patriots players heading to Massachusetts will have to do so within the next couple weeks.

2020 MLB season could be impacted, too

The regular season is slated to get going July 23. That’s less than a month. Teams will be playing at their home stadiums, most without fans in attendance.

As with the NFL, this means Boston Red Sox players living out of state will have to make their way to Massachusetts here soon. That’s less of an issue given that teams are going to start training this week.

As for the Red Sox, they had previously noted that there’s a chance fans could head to Fenway Park for games this season.

While other states remain major hot spots when it comes to COVID-19, Massachusetts has done well to bend the curve. The most-recent data shows that it had just 101 new cases on Monday.

Will the New England Patriots 2020 season be impacted?

There’s growing concern around the NFL world about starting the 2020 season amid the ongoing pandemic. Some believe that even if the season were to start on time, it’s unlikely to conclude.

The Patriots are set to open training camp in less than a month. The newly-signed Cam Newton will obviously have to make his way to Massachusetts and self-quarantine soon.
