The New York Knicks fired head coach Tom Thibodeau on June 3, launching a coaching search that initially focused on top NBA head coaches from playoff contenders. After being turned down by multiple candidates, it appears New York could have its next head coach very soon.
On Monday night during an appearance on Inside Out, Ian Begley of SNY.tv said that he expects the Knicks to make a hire by the end of the week. He also said that while some have suggested Mike Brown is the favorite, Taylor Jenkins and Micah Nori are very much still in the mix.

Begley said he wouldn’t be surprised if New York brings Jenkins and Nori back for a second round of interviews. Notably, though, the expectation remains that the Knicks will still hire an experienced head coach.
Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Monday that New York is bringing Brown in for a second interview and that he has emerged as a “strong candidate” to replace Thibodeau. While Brown might seem like the favorite, it does appear Jenkins is still a very real option.

Brown, a two-time Coach of the Year, has delivered winning seasons for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings. He is a defensive-minded head coach, though he’s not as highly regarded as Thibodeau around the league.
Jenkins, who was fired by the Memphis Grizzlies on March 28, posted a 44-29 record in his final season with the team. Across six years in Memphis, he compiled a .539 winning percentage.
