NBA fines Buddy Hield $25,000 for kicking ball in celebration

The injured-ravaged Sacramento Kings pulled off a stirring victory over the Boston Celtics on Sunday when Marcus Smart’s last-second field goal attempt rattled around the rim and bounced out. It was one of the craziest finishes we’ve seen around the NBA in some time.

One day after the win, it’s proven to be costly for King star guard Buddy Hield. He was fined $25,000 by the league for kicking the ball into the stands in celebration.

The game was over. All Hield was doing here is celebrating with his home fans after dropping 35 points en route to helping Sacramento end Boston’s 10-game winning streak.

That’s some pretty weak stuff from the Association.

The good news? Hield just signed a four-year, $94 million extension with Sacramento back in October. That $25,000 won’t impact his checking account too much.
