NBA exec: 2021 free agency class ‘overhyped’

The 2021 NBA free agency class may feature some of the game’s biggest stars, like LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo, but one NBA executive things it’s being “overhyped.”

ESPN’s Tim Bontemps shared an interesting quote from an anonymous NBA executive, who said the 2021 NBA free agency class has “a lot of name-value guys. But I do think it’s being overhyped because a lot of the guys are considerably older.”

That’s a fair point.

Bontempts noted that Gordon Hayward, Mike Conley, Jrue Holiday, LaMarcus Aldridge and Kyle Lowry “are all on the wrong side of 30. He also added that James, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Rudy Gobert “all appear unlikely to leave their current teams.”

Throw in the fact that Giannis continues to talk up loyalty to the Milwaukee Bucks and you are looking at an offseason without the kind of sizzle that many expect to take place.
