Jimmie Johnson will be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame this weekend before hitting the comeback trail for nine Cup Series starts this season behind the wheel of the Legacy Motor Club No. 84 Toyota Camry.
Johnson will do so with support from Family Dollar/Dollar Tree, Advent Health and Carvana.
Johnson co-owns Legacy Motor Club alongside Allegiant Airlines CEO Maurice Gallagher. He raced three times last season and had planned to make several more starts by the end of the season before a family tragedy ended his campaign.
Johnson did not compete in NASCAR at all the previous two seasons as he raced IMSA and IndyCar after retiring from full-time Cup Series competition. His ownership stake in Legacy M.C. gives him a chance to run a pick-and-choose schedule.
These will also be the first Cup Series starts Johnson has made in something other than a Chevrolet with the team moving to Toyota Racing Development in 2024.
Johnson will begin a nine-race campaign in the Daytona 500 on February 18. The seven-time Cup Series champion will be seeking a third victory in The Great American Race. Johnson will also compete in two of the other triple crown events in the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 26 and the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 21.
The remaining races on his schedule are some of his best tracks in Texas on April 14, Dover on April 28, Kansas on May 5, Kansas on September 29, Las Vegas on October 20 and the season finale at Phoenix on November 10.
Of his 83 career wins at the highest level, his schedule in 2024 features tracks that he has won at a combined 40 times.
