As baseball fans tuned in for Thursday’s Game 5 ALDS clash between the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros, the Pittsburgh Pirates did their best to avoid being trolled on social media.

A pitching duel between Gerrit Cole and Tyler Glasnow gave fans the perfect opportunity to watch two of the game’s best pitchers. Coincidentally, both are former Pirates whose careers were immediately turned around after Pittsburgh traded them.

Before fans could jump on Twitter to troll the Pirates for their failures being broadcasted nationally, the team’s Twitter account put out a brilliant tweet capturing its feelings on tonight’s game.

At a time when so many teams are taking the offseason to relax, the Pirates’ social media guru crafted an excellent tweet. Unfortunately, it only served as fuel for more hilarious trolling that seemed quite fitting.
