The Los Angeles Dodgers earned their 100th win of the season Saturday night, riding Justin Turner’s three hits and left-hander Julio Urias’ six sharp innings to a 7-2 victory over the host San Francisco Giants.

Trayce Thompson blasted a home run down the street from where his brother, Klay, won an NBA title in June, helping the Dodgers record win No. 100 faster than any previous team in franchise history.

The previous Dodgers record of 100 wins in 147 games was set by the 1953 club in Brooklyn en route to a World Series defeat at the hands of the New York Yankees.

Turner got his big night going with a one-out single in the second inning, after which Thompson belted his 11th homer to give Los Angeles the lead for good at 2-1.

The home run came off Giants reliever Sean Hjelle (0-2), who came on after opener John Brebbia had pitched a scoreless first.

Guardians 5, Twins 1 (Game 1)

Shane Bieber picked up his 11th win of the season and Amed Rosario went 4-for-5 with two RBIs as host Cleveland beat Minnesota.

Jose Ramirez homered and Owen Miller added a two-run single for Cleveland (78-66) which won its seventh consecutive game over the Twins. Steven Kwan, Oscar Gonzalez and Andres Gimenez each had two hits and Myles Straw singled, walked twice and scored two runs for the Guardians, who increased their American League Central Division lead to 4 1/2 games over the Chicago White Sox.

Matt Wallner became the 12th player in team history to homer in his first major league game for Minnesota, spoiling Bieber’s shutout bid in the eighth inning.

Guardians 7, Twins 6 (Game 2, 15 innings)

Austin Hedges scored the winning run with two outs in the 15th inning when shortstop Jermaine Palacios mishandled Amed Rosario’s grounder and host Cleveland, despite blowing a 5-0 lead, completed a sweep of a doubleheader with a victory over Minnesota.

Rosario went 4-for-8 with four RBIs for Cleveland, which increased its American League Central Division lead to 4 1/2 games over the second-place Chicago White Sox and seven games over the Twins. Kirk McCarty (4-2) picked up the win, allowing one unearned run over the final three innings.

Nick Gordon hit a two-run homer, Gio Urshela had three hits and two RBIs and Jose Miranda also had two hits for Minnesota, which suffered its eighth straight loss to the Guardians. Dereck Rodriguez (0-1), recalled between games from Triple-A St. Paul when reliever Trevor Megill was placed on the COVID injured list, suffered the loss.

Cardinals 5, Reds 1 (Game 1)

Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer and scored twice as St. Louis defeated visiting Cincinnati in the first half of a day-night doubleheader.

Brendan Donovan drove in a run and scored twice for the Cardinals, who won for the fifth time in seven games to reduce their magic number to 10 to clinch the National League Central title.

Cardinals starting pitcher Dakota Hudson (8-7) stepped up from Triple-A Memphis to work a season-high eight innings. He held the Reds to one unearned run on six hits while striking out five batters and walking two. TJ Friedl had an RBI double for the Reds, who lost for the eighth time in their last nine games.

Cardinals 1, Reds 0 (Game 2, 11 innings)

Andrew Knizner scored on a throwing error to push St. Louis Cardinals past visiting Cincinnati to complete a doubleheader sweep.

Knizner was the automatic runner placed at second base to start the inning. Brendan Donovan walked leading off, then Tommy Edman reached on a bunt single to load the bases. Paul Goldschmidt hit a grounder to Nick Senzel, who moved in from center field to play third base as the Reds used a five-infielder defense. Senzel threw home looking for the forceout, but he hit Knizner — and that allowed him to score.

Cardinals starting pitcher Jose Quintana blanked the Reds for eight innings on just two hits. He struck out six batters and walked nobody.

Blue Jays 6, Orioles 3

Raimel Tapia hit a three-run double in the fifth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting Baltimore Orioles.

George Springer had a second-inning, two-run double for the Blue Jays, who have won the first two games of the three-game series by the same score.

Gunnar Henderson had two hits and two RBIs for the Orioles.

Braves 4, Phillies 3

Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a home run, doubled and drove in four runs to lift host Atlanta past the Philadelphia.

Travis d’Arnaud added two hits for the Braves, who improved to 90-55 and remained one game behind the Mets in the National League East race.

The news wasn’t all good for Atlanta, as Ozzie Albies fractured his right pinky finger sliding into second base in the fourth. Albies could be lost for the remainder of the regular season.

Rockies 3, Cubs 1

Charlie Blackmon and Elias Diaz each drove in a run in the ninth inning as visiting Colorado ended Chicago’s four-game winning streak.

Blackmon hit a tiebreaking triple with one out in the ninth against Adbert Alzolay (0-1), who was making his season debut. Diaz added an insurance run with a single to center.

Carlos Estevez (4-4) pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Daniel Bard recorded his 31st save for Colorado, which lost the opener of the three-game series Friday.

Rays 5, Rangers 1

Six Tampa Bay pitchers held visiting Texas to six hits as it evened the three-game series with a win in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Rays opener Shawn Armstrong allowed one hit in 1 2/3 innings, striking out three before handing the ball to Ryan Yarbrough (2-8), who spun three innings of four-hit, one-run ball.

Taylor Walls stroked a solo homer and Jose Siri went 3-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base. Isaac Paredes drove in two runs with a double as the Rays moved to 48-25 at home.

White Sox 4, Tigers 3 (11 innings)

Yoan Moncada drove in the go-ahead run in the 11th inning and visiting Chicago topped the Detroit.

The White Sox scored twice in the 11th against Gregory Soto (2-9). Elvis Andrus had a bunt single to advance runner Seby Zavala to third. Moncada knocked in Zavala with a single. After a double steal, Andrus scored on Eloy Jimenez’s sacrifice fly.

Javier Baez had a two-out RBI single off Aaron Bummer in the bottom of the inning. Bummer then set down Spencer Torkelson on a liner to center to pick up his second save.

Mets 5, Pirates 1

Chris Bassitt tossed six scoreless innings and Eduardo Escobar continued his September surge by hitting a three-run homer for host New York, which beat Pittsburgh.

The Mets have won the first three games of the four-game series and they have a one-game lead over the second-place Atlanta Braves in the National League East. Bassitt (14-8) allowed three hits and walked two while striking out eight in his sixth scoreless effort of the season and his first since Aug. 14.

Rodolfo Castro had three of the Pirates’ five hits. Bryse Wilson (3-9) allowed four runs on four hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Athletics 8, Astros 5

Seth Brown drove in four with a pair of extra-base hits while Cole Irvin recovered from a rocky first inning as visiting Oakland snapped Houston’s six-game winning streak with a victory.

Brown was integral in helping Oakland rally from an early three-run deficit, smacking a three-run home run with two outs in the fifth inning that lifted the Athletics to a 6-4 lead. He added a two-out double in the seventh that drove home Sean Murphy with an insurance run.

Oakland saddled Astros right-hander Jose Urquidy (13-7) with six runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings. He has allowed six earned runs in consecutive starts after doing so only once previously this season.

Brewers 4, Yankees 1

Brandon Woodruff struck out 10 in eight stellar innings to remain unbeaten at home this season, and Milwaukee beat New York.

Milwaukee won for the seventh time in nine games and did not need to come back from a five-run deficit this time thanks to Woodruff (11-4) and some early offense off New York’s Jameson Taillon (13-5). Willy Adames hit a three-run homer after driving in four runs in Friday’s 7-6 comeback win. Christian Yelich scored on Adames’ homer and also hit an RBI double for the Brewers.

Josh Donaldson homered for the Yankees, who lost for the fourth time in 12 games. Aaron Judge remained at 57 homers but reached base twice to extend his on-base streak to 17 games.

Nationals 5, Marlins 3

Washington hit four solo home runs to power its way to a victory over visiting Miami.

Lane Thomas, Luke Voit, Victor Robles and Alex Call all homered for the Nationals, who knocked off the Marlins for the second straight day.

After Thomas homered to lead off the bottom of the first, the Nationals doubled their lead in their next at-bat. Luis Garcia led off with a double to left and promptly scored when Riley Adams doubled to right field for a 2-0 lead.

Royals 9, Red Sox 0

Leadoff-hitting catcher MJ Melendez went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored as Kansas City cruised to a win over host Boston.

Brady Singer (9-4) worked six innings in his second consecutive scoreless start for the Royals, who had lost their previous four games. Singer struck out five and allowed just five hits and a walk.

Enrique Hernandez and Christian Arroyo had two hits apiece as Boston lost for the third time in four games. Red Sox starter Rich Hill (7-7) was charged with four runs on eight hits and struck out four over 4 2/3 innings.

Padres 2, Diamondbacks 0

Joe Musgrove pitched six scoreless innings and Luis Campusano hit the second homer of his career to cap a fourth-inning uprising against Zac Gallen as visiting San Diego defeated Arizona.

Gallen fell to 12-3 and had his eight-decision winning streak snapped for Arizona. Musgrove (10-7), meanwhile, picked up only his second win since June 16.

The win kept the Padres 1 1/2 games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers in the race for the third wild-card berth in the National League playoffs. Further, the Padres moved to within a half-game of the Phillies for the No. 2 position in the wild-card race.

Angels 2, Mariners 1

Two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani earned the win by tossing seven scoreless innings and factoring in both runs for host Los Angeles, which edged Seattle.

Ohtani (13-8) allowed three hits and walked one while striking out eight. He didn’t allow a runner past first base thanks to a trio of forceouts and an inning-ending double play in the seventh.

Taylor Trammell homered with one out in the eighth against Jaime Barria for the Mariners’ only run. Seattle starter George Kirby took the hard-luck loss despite allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings.
