Minnesota Twins place pitcher Caleb Thielbar on 10-day IL

The Minnesota Twins placed left-hander Caleb Thielbar (left groin strain) on the 10-day IL after Thielbar suffered the injury in Wednesday night’s game in Baltimore.

Thielbar, 34, has appeared in 20 games this season and carries a 4.29 ERA through 21 innings, striking out 31 and walking seven.

He had been on a roll recently, posting a 1.59 ERA over 5 2/3 innings in his past six games.

In his 146-game career, Thielbar has a 2.90 ERA, a 1.174 WHIP and 132 strikeouts over 139 2/3 innings.

The Twins also recalled right-hander Shaun Anderson from Triple-A St. Paul.

Anderson, 26, was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the third round of the 2016 draft. He has allowed five earned runs in five innings for the Twins this season, with three walks and six strikeouts over three appearances.

In his three big-league seasons (49 games), Anderson has a 5.34 ERA over 116 1/3 innings.
