Minnesota leading scorer Marcus Carr has entered the transfer portal, multiple media outlets reported Friday.

The 6-foot-2 junior guard from Toronto averaged 19.4 points, 4.9 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 29 starts for the Golden Gophers in 2020-21. He was a second-team All-Big Ten selection by the media and a third-team pick by the coaches.

The news follows the departure of head coach Richard Pitino, who left this week to take the same position at New Mexico.

It would be the second transfer for Carr, who began his collegiate career at Pitt in 2017-18. He averaged 10.0 points and 4.0 assists in 32 games (27 starts) for the Panthers.

After sitting out the 2018-19 campaign, Carr started all 31 of Minnesota’s games in 2019-20 and contributed 15.4 points, 6.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds per contest.
