Miguel Sano carted off field after nasty left leg injury

Minnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano was carted off the field on Tuesday after suffering a nasty injury to his left leg.

In the second inning, Sano attempted to advance on a wild pitch. He slid into second base safely, but immediately started rolling around on the ground and screaming in pain.

The 25-year-old was able to sit up with trainers around him, but he was never able to put weight on his left leg. Trainers called for the cart and the 2017 All-Star third baseman was taken off the field.

It is the same leg that Sano had a titanium rod inserted into during the offseason after he suffered a stress reaction during the 2017 season.

Tyler Austin took over for him after being carted off the field. Before the injury, Sano had a .202/.285/.405 slash line with 13 home runs in 70 games this season.
