The Miami Hurricanes will be shorthanded on defense for Saturday night’s big game against Florida, as starting cornerback DJ Ivey was suspended for the season opener.
The university issued a statement, which was shared by the Miami Herald: “DJ Ivey will not play tonight — he did not travel,’’ a UM spokesperson said in a text message to the Miami Herald. “Violation of team rules.’’
Ivey, a sophomore, was listed as a co-starter on Miami’s official depth chart, which was released this past week ahead of Saturday’s game.
Last year as a freshman, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound cornerback appeared in three games, tallying three tackles.
