Mets next targeting Noah Syndergaard trade after acquiring Marcus Stroman, per report

The New York Mets surprised many when they pulled off a trade for Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Marcus Stroman Sunday. Now the team is reportedly set on trading Noah Syndergaard, per Bob Klapisch of the New York Times.

It’s an interesting game of chess being played by general manager Brodie Van Wagenen, who gave up two of his top three pitching prospects to acquire Stroman. Many are a bit confused by the tactics being utilized by New York here.

However, the idea that the Mets would trade for a starting pitcher before unloading Syndergaard isn’t completely out of the blue. With the deadline approaching, it’s going to be fascinating to see what New York’s roster will ultimately look like comes August 1st.
