Mets close to hiring Chili Davis as hitting coach

The New York Mets are continuing to round out their coaching staff. On Wednesday, it was reported that Chili Davis will likely be the hitting coach in 2018.

Davis played in MLB from 1981-1999. He has experience as an MLB hitting coach and held the same job with the Chicago Cubs in 2018. Davis was not retained after the 2018 season, something he blamed millennials for. Most players on the Mets (and in MLB) are millennials. So, for his sake, we’re hoping that Davis’ frustration with┬ámillennials was only temporary.

In addition to his work with the Cubs, Davis has also been the hitting coach for the Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox.
