The Los Angeles Chargers are being picked by a lot of folks who follow the NFL as favorites to give the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers and other top AFC teams a run for their money in 2018. Count Chargers pass rusher Melvin Ingram among those who believe this team will pull it off.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Ingram was asked what he’s most excited about this season. He responded by saying, “This Super Bowl we’re going to win,” per Eric D. Williams of ESPN.

“That’s the goal, we’ve got to bring a Super Bowl to the city,” Ingram said about his Super Bowl prediction. “It ain’t added pressure. I was taught you have to speak stuff into existence. If you want to do something, you’ve got to say you’re going to do it, and then you’ve got to go do it.”

Given the way the Chargers finished off last season, winning six out of their last seven, it’s definitely a possibility that Los Angeles will have a shot to win Super Bowl LIII. The team is loaded on both sides of the ball, and at this point it seems the injury bug is the biggest reason to doubt the Chargers, having already sunk its teeth into one of the team’s stars this offseason.

Ingram has every right and reason to believe in his team. The Chargers should be favored to win the AFC West, given the tumult in Oakland, the new faces leading the charge in Kansas City and the quarterback situation in Denver. Whether that plays out when it’s all said and done remains to be seen.
