Matt Kemp to serve one-game suspension Wednesday night

Nearly two weeks after he was originally suspended by MLB, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp will now serve his one-game suspension on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old outfielder was originally suspended one game along with Texas Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos, for their involvement in a benches-clearing incident on June 13.

Kemp appealed the suspension in recent days, but a ruling went against his favor and the one-game ban became official.

Kemp, who leads the team in hits (75) and RBI (47), will now have to sit out for Wednesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs.

He’ll be eligible to return on Thursday when Los Angeles wraps up a four-game series with Chicago.
