St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Matt Carpenter was frustrated with the third-base umpire during Monday’s game against Pittsburgh, and then he got tossed.
The two magic words that apparently got him tossed were, “you suck.”
The circumstances that surrounded this ejection were that the third-base ump said Carpenter went around and called a strike. When Carpenter objected, the home-plate umpire (who replaced Jerry Layne after he was hit in the head earlier), threw him out of the game.
Prior to being ejected, Carpenter went 0-5 in the game, with one walk.
