Mark Sanchez To Sign With The Philadelphia Eagles

Well, this might not end well for anyone involved. Former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, who has been among the worst signal callers in the NFL in the two seasons prior to missing 2013 with injury, has reportedly agreed to a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Fans in the City of Brotherly Love don’t necessarily take kindly to struggling quarterbacks.

What happens should Nick Foles go down to injury and Sanchez is thrust into a starting role? Just imagine how fans in Philadelphia would react to his first “Sanchezism.” It wouldn’t be too pretty.

Over the course of his last 31 starts, Sanchez has turned the ball over a whopping 52 times. That’s simply not going to get it done in Philadelphia or any city for that matter.

With Michael Vick moving on to the Jets, Sanchez will sit behind Foles and ahead of Matt Barkley on the Eagles depth chart. This means that head coach Chip Kelly will likely have an all Pac-10 quarterback group in Philadelphia this upcoming season.

Barkley immediately followed Sanchez as the starting quarterback for the USC Trojans late last decade. Both were heralded NFL draft prospects during their time in Southern California. Both are now backups to a less-heralded signal caller in Nick Foles, who accounted for 30 total touchdowns and two interceptions for the NFC East winning Eagles last season.

This deal is still dependent on Sanchez passing a physical with Philadelphia.
