Mariners place trade target Dee Gordon on injured list

There might be another All-Star player off the trade market ahead of next week’s deadline.

The Seattle Mariners announced on Tuesday that they have placed two-time All-Sar second baseman Dee Gordon on the 10-day injured list with a quad injury.

Currently 21 games under .500, the Mariners have already been sellers this season. That’s not going to change with just over a week remaining until the July 31 trade deadline.

Though, this likely means Gordon will stay put. The second baseman is hitting .280 with three homers, 27 RBI and 16 stolen bases this season. He’s also put up a disastrous .306 on-base percentage for the struggling Mariners.

The 31-year-old Gordon has two years and $27.8 million remaining on his contract. He was going to be a hard sell in the first place.
