Mariners and P Wade LeBlanc agree to contract extension

The Seattle Mariners are not waiting until the offseason to sign a man who’s been one of their best pitchers in 2018. Seattle announced on Tuesday that it had come to a contract extension with Wade LeBlanc. The deal could extend through 2022.

Jon Heyman of Fancred noted some of the deal’s specifics.

When we look at how well LeBlanc has pitched in 2018, it’s not hard to see why the Mariners wanted to make this deal.

LeBlanc has appeared in 16 games, making 11 starts. In those outings, he’s 3-0 with a 3.38 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 56 strikeouts over 72 innings. The four-year extension would take LeBlanc through his age 37 season, in 2022.
