A shoulder injury will sideline Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Zach Bogosian for at least four weeks, likely meaning he’ll miss the start of the playoffs.

The Maple Leafs (29-13-5, 63 points) currently lead the North Division and are scheduled to complete the regular season on May 14 with a game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Bogosian, 30, was hurt in a collision with the boards in a 6-3 loss at Vancouver on Tuesday.

A part of the third defensive line, Bogosian leads the Maple Leafs in penalty minutes (49). He has four assists in 45 games this season.

The third overall pick in 2008 by the Atlanta Thrashers, Bogosian joined the Maple Leafs on a one-year deal in the offseason after winning a title with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season.

“He’s experienced … and being a part of that run in Tampa,” said Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe. “So certainly, you’re going to feel that absence. I know he’s going to do everything that he can to get back, and our medical staff is going to try and get him up and running as soon as possible.”
