Patrick Mahomes closing gap on Russell Wilson in MVP race

NFL Week 15 schedule predictions: Chiefs-Saints

Patrick Mahomes is 3-1 to win the National Football League Most Valuable Player award, but the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback remains a distant second to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wilson is -143 at BetMGM and -140 at multiple sportsbooks offering futures on the MVP award in 2020, including PointsBet and FanDuel.

With Wilson at minus money and not showing any signs of regressing to the mean, bettors are making considerable plays on the “value” selections such as Mahomes and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.

Brady entered Week 8 at 12-1 odds with Wilson at -110 at PointsBet.

Aaron Rodgers was 4-1 with Mahomes 4.5-1, but the Chiefs annihilated the moribund New York Jets and Rodgers and the Packers stumbled at home in empty Lambeau Field, leading to most books flipping the two QBs. That carousel will undoubtedly spin again as the season progresses.

Brady opened the season at +1400 (14-1) at PointsBet and DraftKings. The 43-year-old already owns the distinction as the oldest player to win the MVP award way back in 2017. No 40-plus-year-old player has ever won NFL MVP.

At BetMGM, Brady is 16-1 and Rodgers is down to 6.5-1.

Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals) is 28-1 and 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson is down to 30-1 after the Baltimore Ravens dropped to 5-2.

Among the other biggest movers of October is Brady’s replacement in New England. Patriots quarterback Cam Newton, once in the top 10, plummeted to +50000 at BetMGM. That’s the same floor Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott and Bears pass rusher Khalil Mack are living on these days.
