Los Angeles Football Club acquired defender Franco Escobar from Atlanta United on Sunday.
Atlanta United, in turn, will receive up to $600,000 in General Allocation Money, including $250,000 in 2022. Atlanta could receive up to $350,000 in 2023 provided certain performance criteria are met.
“Franco is a talented, proven MLS player who has made an impact in our league,” said John Thorrington, LAFC co-president and general manager. “His ability to play multiple positions and his international experience will make him a great fit in L.A.”
Escobar, 26, has two goals and five assists in 63 career MLS matches (58 starts) with Atlanta United (2018-20). He rejoined Newell’s Old Boys of the Argentinian First Division on loan for the 2021 season.
