Eric Ebron

Eric Ebron has yet to play out an entire 16-game season since joining the Detroit Lions as a first-round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. Injuries have plagued the talented, athletic and speedy tight end, and this troubling trend continued Sunday in training camp.

Ebron suffered what head coach Jim Caldwell said he thinks was a “tweaked hamstring,” per Michael Rothstein of The injury forced Ebron off the field, and it’s unknown exactly how long the injury will keep him sidelined.

It’s dire news for the Lions, who’ve been bit hard by the injury bug this offseason and summer already.

Last season marked a breakout campaign for the North Carolina product. He caught 61 passes for 711 yards and a touchdown. In 40 career games, including 28 in which he started, Ebron has caught 133 passes for 1,496 yards and seven touchdowns.

He’s been a guy who always seems on the cusp of developing into an elite talent. Unfortunately, injuries continue to be a problem.
