The Detroit Lions placed quarterback Jared Goff on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday, putting his status for this week’s game into question.
Goff, 27, is coming off his best performance of the season in a surprise 30-12 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. He completed 21 of 26 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns, which was good for a season-high 139.7 passer rating.
On the season, Goff has completed 67 percent of his passes for 3,007 yards and 17 touchdowns with three interceptions.
The Lions (2-11-1) will visit the Atlanta Falcons (6-8) on Sunday.
If Goff is unavailable, Detroit could turn to backup signal-caller Tim Boyle for his second start of the season. Boyle completed 15 of 23 passes for 77 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in a 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 21.
Detroit also placed offensive lineman Matt Nelson on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
In other roster moves, the Lions activated cornerback Mark Gilbert and running back Jamaal Williams from the reserve/COVID-19 list and signed running back Craig Reynolds from the practice squad to the active roster. The team placed linebacker Alex Anzalone on injured reserve due to a season-ending shoulder injury.
