Detroit Lions quarterback Chase Daniel thinks there will not be any offseason program for teams this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the nation.
Speaking on the subject, via Michael Rothstein of ESPN, Daniel said he thinks “it’s highly unlikely we have any offseason program” and lamented that “it’s going to be difficult.”
Daniels’ take echoes what one NFL owner has said about the timeline for the league, which is that it would be surprising of players were allowed back at team headquarters any time before training camps begin in mid-July. At this time, the league is doing everything remotely during this health crisis.
Recent developments indicate the worst is yet to come. On Monday, United States Surgeon General Jerome Adams cautioned Americans, saying, “I want America to understand — this week, it’s going to get bad.”
According to Johns Hopkins University, there are currently 42,817 people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the United States, and the death toll is up to 557.
