Liberty HC Hugh Freeze released from hospital

Following a medical scare that left head coach Hugh Freeze hospitalized with a life-threatening condition, Liberty University’s football coach was released from the hospital this week.

According to ESPN, Freeze underwent back surgery for a herniated disc last week only to receive a life-threatening staph infection that entered his bloodstream and required further hospitalization.

Fortunately for Freeze and the program, doctors at the University of Virginia Medical Center were able to treat the staph infection and save him from a potentially deadly situation.

Liberty announced that while Freeze won’t be able to return to coaching this weekend, his health is improving and he is nearing a return to the sidelines.

Liberty hired the ex-Ole Miss head coach in December with an introductory press conference that drew intense reactions.
