The Cleveland Cavaliers have all but wrapped up their Eastern Conference Semifinals series against the Toronto Raptors, up 3-0. The Boston Celtics, also up 3-0 on the Philadelphia 76ers, appear destined to be the next opponent of LeBron James and Co., but The King refuses to look ahead.
Speaking to reporters about this on Monday morning ahead of Game 4, James made it clear his work isn’t finished in the current series.
“I don’t really want to talk about Boston right now, just yet,” James said Monday morning at the team’s shootaround, per Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan. “I still gotta lot of work to in this series.”
This is absolutely the smart response. We all know that James and the Cavaliers are going to advance. Toronto has lost nine straight games and 14 of its last 16 to Cleveland. It has also melted down at the worst possible times during this lopsided rivalry.
James’ attitude absolutely ensures that the Raptors will have no possible way to come back and win this series, though.
Make no mistake about his intentions, which are clearly to step on Toronto’s throat in Game 4 and walk away with a clean sweep. Based on how the series has gone thus far, that sounds about right.
