Stop me if you’ve heard this story before, but LaVar Ball has placed one of his sons atop a pedestal with a bold statement on national television.
On Monday, appearing on ESPN’s “First Take,” Ball declared that his youngest son, LaMelo Ball, will be the No. 1 overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft.
For what it’s worth, Ball has previously said that LiAngelo Ball is better than Zion Williamson, who will almost certainly be selected No. 1 overall this year.
LaMelo is pretty good, to be honest. He’s rated as a five-star prospect by 247 Sports and is currently playing ball for SPIRE Academy. However, you’d be hard pressed to find any NBA scouts who think he’s a first-round pick in 2020, let alone first overall.
