Las Vegas Raiders ‘trying to win’ ahead of NFL trade deadline, shopping one Pro Bowl talent, while trying to trade for more

After a slow start, the Las Vegas Raiders are suddenly 3-3 heading into Week 7. While they may be two games behind the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC West division lead, the Raiders aren’t far behind in the chase for a Wild Card spot in the AFC.

With just two games left to play before the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline passes, teams all around the league are trying to either buy or sell in preparation for the stretch of the season. But what about the Raiders, who sit at .500?

According to NFL insider Dianna Russini, the Raiders are right in the middle. They’re “trying to win,” so they won’t become sellers, but that doesn’t mean players on their roster aren’t available.

This includes former Pro Bowl receiver Hunter Renfrow, who’s seen his role within the offense decrease since Josh McDaniels became head coach in 2022. Tied for sixth in targets among Raiders, Renfrow is firmly on the trade block.

But, as mentioned, the Raiders aren’t looking to become sellers. They’re also still looking to replace Chandler Jones’ place in the lineup, searching for a pass rusher ahead of the deadline. Jones was released on Sept. 30, and even though Frank Clark became available as a free agent, there have also been reports of the Pro Bowl pass rusher possibly heading back to Kansas City.

Several other defensive ends are on the trade block, which could include the likes of Carolina’s Brian Burns or Minnesota’s Danielle Hunter. Both are pending free agents, meaning the Raiders may have to reach a long-term agreement with either player in addition to giving up valued draft capital in exchange.

While the Raiders are looking to win, the outcome of their next two matchups, against Chicago and Detroit, may change their mind. Which could also include getting more aggressive ahead of the deadline if they prosper over the next two weeks.
