The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl LII champions, and the New England Patriots have headed back to Boston with their tail between their legs. Adding insult to injury, offensive tackle Lane Johnson rubbed this salt in the Patriots’ wounds.

“I knew New England, defensively, couldn’t hang with us up front,” Johnson said, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “We knew we had the better offensive line and defensive line.”

It is obviously easier for Johnson to say this after the game with a win secured. But the truth is, the Patriots fell short both offensively and defensively, which cost them the game.

Johnson is never shy to mince words. We will next have to see if he keeps his word about buying the entire city of Philadelphia beers if the Eagles won the Super Bowl.

Little did we know that a projection Johnson made last August would come full circle.

And, Johnson’s comments about the Patriots will likely not be the only ones of the gut-punching type. When an underdog team beats a favored one, it has definitely earned bragging rights.
