Kyrie Irving re-aggravated shoulder injury, will see specialist this week

Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving will see a specialist this week after re-aggravating the right shoulder that sidelined him for 26 games earlier this season.

Irving was nearing a return to the court after suffering a right knee sprain on Feb. 1. Unfortunately for Brooklyn, coach Kenny Atkinson announced on Tuesday that Irving will now remain sidelined while he goes for further evaluation.

Signed to a four-year, $141 million contract this offseason, the Nets hoped Irving would carry the team while Kevin Durant recovers from a torn Achilles.

Instead, the All-Star guard has missed 33 games this season and that number will continue to grow with the latest setback. Irving has played very well when healthy, averaging 27.4 points and 6.4 assists per game, but durability continues to be a problem for him.
