Well, well, well. After a phenomenal football season at Oklahoma that might just earn Kyler Murray the Heisman Trophy, the two-sport star is thinking about a change of heart.
On Friday ahead of the Heisman Trophy presentation ceremony Saturday, Murray publicly made it clear that playing both football and baseball professionally is now on the table.
Kyler Murray: “I’d like to do both [football and baseball] if possible. But I don’t know how possible that is.”

This is a huge about face. Since the Oakland Athletics drafted him and gave him a huge contract, Murray has made it clear that he’d play one year at Oklahoma and then move on to play for the MLB franchise, dropping football altogether.
But as his fame for playing football has grown, the possibility of earning mega-bucks at the NFL level has to be appealing. Playing both sports at the same time, however, might prove to be too difficult. Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders both did it, but it’s been a long time since anyone tried to make it work.
If he decided to declare for the NFL draft, then Murray could theoretically be taken quite high. He’s been unbelievably good this year for the Sooners and has the type of accuracy and demeanor that should have NFL scouts drooling.
In the end, Murray might just have to choose.
