San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is known for letting his thoughts fly, even when it means trolling an opponent. During a press conference on Thursday, Shanahan shared his unfiltered thoughts on home-field advantage with an unusual comparison.

When asked by a reporter if home-field advantage exists, Shanahan confirmed its validity and compared it to global warming.

It seems like the only rationale for the comparison was that both things exist. While Shanahan pointed out that home-field advantage is also random, another odd point given NFL teams earn it over the course of a 16-game season, that doesn’t seem to relate to the temperature in the earth’s atmosphere increasing.

We’ll have to see if the 49ers take advantage of their home-field advantage against the Minnesota Vikings. If they don’t, Shanahan might have to deal with a few jokes and memes related to global warming.
