The 2019 NFL season has been a whirlwind as it pertains to the starting quarterbacks for many teams around the league.

Many franchises, including the Carolina Panthers, have been relying on their backup quarterback due to their starters being injured. As such, oddsmakers have been busy at work.

They are actually favoring Kyle Allen to be the long-term starter over Cam Newton in Carolina.

Go figure. The Panthers are in absolutely no hurry to get Newton back under center while he recovers from a Lisfranc injury. With Newton ruled out for Week 8, Allen will look to record his sixth consecutive win as the Panthers’ starter.

The Panthers next travel out west to take on the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. This should make for one of the more exciting NFC matchups on the Week 8 schedule.

Regarding Newton, it is anyone’s guess as to when the Panthers will ease him back into action.
