Kirk Cousins: Kyler Murray ‘electric’ and ‘going to be a great quarterback’

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins expects big things from Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray, who was the first pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the two teams’ third preseason game, Cousins gushed over the young Cardinals quarterback.

Per Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Cousins said Murray is “Super talented. Strong arm. Electric. One to watch. I think he’s going to be a great quarterback in this game for a long time. It will be great to get a front-row seat watching as part of the game.’’

Murray has the talent to be a fantastic pro for a long time, as Cousins said.

However, the rookie is coming off a decidedly poor outing in preseason Week 2 against Oakland. In that game, he completed just 3-of-8 passes for 12 yards, incurred two false-start penalties due to his clap snap count, was sacked twice for 10 yards and took a safety.

So, while the potential is there for the former Heisman Trophy winner to develop into one of the NFL’s top young passers, it’s going to be a bumpy ride at first. As it is for most rookies not named Baker Mayfield.
