Kevin Durant arrives back in the Bay Area in a wheelchair

By Michael Dixon

Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant is out indefinitely with a sprained MCL. On Wednesday, he returned to Oakland from the team’s east coast road trip — in a wheelchair.

If anyone needs a visual detailing how far Durant has to go to get back to the court, there it is.

Durant’s injury will keep him out for most of the remainder of the regular season. If all goes to plan, he’ll return for the season’s final few games and play in the postseason.

While the Warriors still have seeding to play for, they’re in good shape. Entering Wednesday’s play, Golden State was the only NBA team with a playoff spot clinched. The Warriors are four games ahead of the San Antonio Spurs for the best record in the Western Conference and NBA overall. For their part, the Spurs boast one of the difficult remaining schedules in the Association.

Still, it’s never good optics to see your former MVP in a wheelchair.
