Yankees acquire Kendrys Morales in trade with Athletics

Dealing with a rash of injuries, the New York Yankees have made a trade to upgrade their offense, acquiring Kendrys Morales from the Oakland Athletics.

The club announced the move on Twitter on Tuesday evening.

Morales had recently been designated for assignment by the A’s. With Matt Olson’s recent return from the IL and Mark Canha being activated, Morales wasn’t likely to get many at-bats for Oakland.

Morales had generally struggled for the A’s. He was hitting .204/.310/.259 with only one home run before being DFA’d.

Due to New York’s many injuries (including Miguel Andujar and Giancarlo Stanton), he will likely get plenty of at-bats for the Yankees.
