Kansas City, Houston mayors make incredible bet before Texans-Chiefs playoff game

There will be more than a spot in the AFC Championship Game on the line Sunday when the Houston Texans battle the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Playoff matchup. Now, there will be delicious food at stake as well.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner announced that his office made a wager with Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. If the Texans pull off the upset in Sunday’s playoff matchup, Lucas’ office will send iconic barbeque from Gates BBQ along with Boulevard Beer to Houston.

Of course, there’s something at stake for Houston as well. If the Chiefs send the Texans home and end their season, which Turner calls unlikely, Turner’s office will send Mexican food from Irma’s Original Restaurant, which is one of the most beloved Mexican restaurants in Houston.

This is the type of stuff that makes these matchups even more fun. There was already plenty on the line for these two teams and their fan bases. Now, some delicious food is involved and we can’t help but feel jealous of whoever wins.
