For Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, the season of giving is not limited to the holidays. Already a fixture in the local Pittsburgh community, the young receiver’s sense of altruism is what has helped define his career.
That’s not changing. Smith-Schuster, 23, is donating a signed jersey to Underdogs United as a way to help provide children in Kenya safe drinking water.
For most Americans and those in the first world, safe drinking water doesn’t make it on the list of the 500 things they’re concerned about the most.
That’s obviously not the case in famine-stricken Africa, where unsafe drinking water leads to north of 500,000 annual deaths from diarrhoeal.
This is the latest example of Smith-Shuster doing what he can to help those in need. A small show of altruism can help so many. He’s proven this time and again.
