Johnny Manziel wants to work with Texas A&M program after football career

Johnny Manziel hasn’t given up on his dream of continuing to play pro football for a living, but the former Texas A&M star has given thought to life after his playing days are over.

Speaking about this on the “Dan Patrick Show” Monday morning, Manziel said he wants to work with the Aggies football program in some capacity whenever he is finished playing the game he loves.

Manziel said he has a good relationship with current Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher, and a good relationship with the school.

“That’s a place that means a lot to me and a place that I want to tie myself to for the long term moving forward after my football career would be over.”

He also said he is a regular on campus, and that he attends Texas A&M practices when he can.

Manziel has said in the past that he’d like to coach or get into media when his playing career is over. Reading between the lines, it sounds like he would love to get started on the coaching path under Fisher, if that option is open to him.

In the meantime, it appears the XFL will likely be the last chance Manziel gets to show his stuff on the gridiron.
