Johnny Manziel is fed up with the Colin Kaepernick comparisons

Free agent quarterback Johnny Manziel worked out in front of a dozen NFL teams earlier this week in San Diego. Given that Manziel has been out of the league since 2016 and is still suspended by the NFL, this created quite the stir.

It also led some to wonder how Manziel with his off-field history could have an opportunity like this when fellow free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick has received zero interest from NFL teams.

For his part, Manziel is sick and tired of the comparisons between him and Kaepernick.

Those are some strong words in support of his fellow quarterback. It also tells us a story of a player in Manziel who understands that Kaepernick is doing much larger work outside of the game of football than himself.

Like Manziel, Kaepernick has not played since the 2016 season. Though, his situation is much different in that the National Anthem protests the quarterback started that season has played a role in him being unemployed.

Kaepernick is currently in the courts arguing that NFL owners have colluded against him in an attempt to keep the quarterback out of the league. That’s probably another reason why he remains a free agent.
