Jalen Rose said it was unprofessional for Joel Embiid to suggest his conditioning was at 69 percent, but the Philadelphia 76ers star responded with a verbal haymaker.
While appearing on SC6 with Michael Smith and Jemele Hill, Embiid said he’s now up to approximately 81 percent.
Although it may appear Embiid is randomly picking out numbers, the first one is obvious given the innuendo. This dig at Rose, however, was spectacularly subtle and might not immediately make sense to everyone.
But on Jan. 22, 2006, a Hall of Fame-bound guard by the name of Kobe Bryant dropped 81 points on the Toronto Raptors. Defending the Black Mamba for much of that night, of course, was none other than Jalen Rose.
Stop the fight. It’s over.
Let this be a lesson, kids. If Joel Embiid doesn’t like what you have to say, he’s going to roast you into submission.
